Ward LaFrance Ultravision
From a trip this past Oct into extreme southern IL, is this 1972 1250/1000 from Pulaski IL. The FF was in a real hurry and had to unbury this one for me, so I wasn't able to look for the plate. He said it came from Paducah KY. It's now their 2nd out pumper, after being replaced in 2005.

80-544 is a 1971 Ambassador 1000/500/54' that was first owned by Mountain Brook, AL. (Engine 2) Thanks!

Fountain Hose WLF was replaced with a 2001 Ferrera Inferno with a 1250 pump and 750 water tank. The Ward was sold very cheap, but I cant remember where it went.

80-1377 is a 1977 Diplomat with a 100' Maxim ladder. Maxim ladders became available in 1975 when North Street Associates bought both WLF and Maxim.

80-1475. Confirming 1977.

80-977 is a 1974 Ambassador 1250/1000 that ran as Engine 88-2 with the Hecla FC, Southwest, PA



"Here's a few more. First a couple from KY. The first is xE4 from Henderson Ky. It's a 1973 that had the body rebuilt by Pierce in 1988, then the pump replaced in 1998. It was retired in 2000."



Not original to them, can't find anything on it in my database.



"Here's the other Henderson KY rig, XE6. I have it listed as a 1979, but I'm doubting that right now. It was rebuilt by Pierce in 1986. It's a 1500/500. It was delivered 7-2-70,chassis #80163,serial #31584. rebuilt by Pierce 5-86 #F-1651."



80-163 was originally delivered as a dealer demo to whatever dealer WLF had in Indianapolis. That's all I have, hopefully, someone will know more.



"Here's my shot of Norwood's WLF."



80-899 is a 1973 Ambassador 1000/750 that was sold to New Buffalo, PA where it was refurbed and the tank reduced to 600 gallons. It was later sold to Donaldson, PA.



"Now Dalton Pa's WLF as original."



80-571 is a 1971 Ambassador 1000/1000.



"One of the oldest "Ambassadors" I've shot is this 1966 from Alert H,L, & Engine Co. of Congers NY."

80-136 is a 1966 Mark I 1000/750.



"On to CT, where I shot this 1975, 1250/500 at Fountain Hose Co. of Ansonia."

Thanks for the updated info Dave. I've got plenty more!! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' /> They're all rigs I'm sure others have shot, but they're not being posted.

About those Henderson KY rigs. The one as E6 has no Ward id plates on it anywhere. inside the cab is a Midwest plate however complete with the Ward 80series # listed as the "chassis" and 31584 listed as the "serial". I'm guessing that Midwest was the Ward dealer at the time? The guys at Henderson have told me that they've never bought any modern rigs used;everything has been new. Was there also a 1973 listed as being delivered to Indy or the Indy area dealer? If so, thats probably the other Henderson rig(E4). Or it could have possibly come from a KY dealer the same way the 70 came from Midwest.



Here's the only Ambassador that served the lower "Gold Coast" of CT. It originally served as Cos Cob E2 in Greenwich CT. It's a 1973 1500/500 that I believe was bought as an emergency replacement for a wrecked 1966 Mack C pumper.

The same rig after being replaced at Cos Cob in 1990. It served as Greenwich CT E8, a dedicated town wide spare. It was retired about 1994 and went WAY down south(America that is)!!

Mill Plain Fire Company of Danbury CT had this 1979 1250/750 only until 1991 when it was replaced by a pumper/tanker.

I do show a 1972, 80-651 with a delivery date of 3/31/72, that is listed as Indianapolis, IN, just like the other one was. Does anyone know if the Indianapolis FD ever had any Ambassador pumpers?

Orlando FD didn't get all of those rigs. Three of them went to Reedy Creek and one of the P-82's went to another nearby FD."



GA Dave, I think I may have found the other P-82 your were looking for. This is Winter Park Fire Dept's

Engine-60 a 1969 WLF Open Cab 1000/500. This truck in the late 70's early 80's had a full canopy added if I remember. Sorry for the poor picture quality. If you or anybody else has a better pic of this truck please feel free to post it.

I'm pretty sure that rig is 80-307. The P-82 has a TCM cab like old Orlando E-9. You already told me where the other one went, but I don't recall. I haven't gotten to the P-82 rigs yet.

My bad Dave, The other P-82 was sold to Taft Fire Control District in south Orlando.

Well here's a few more, all from Manhasset-Lakeville LINY. They were a BIG WLF customer for years. I believe the each of the 5 companies had at least one WLF over the years. Total for the dept was at least 11 WLF's that I know of!

Here is Co.1's E-8711, 1965 1500/500 at Oyster Bay Fire Co's 100th Annivesary parade in 1988. Also at Company 1 was this 1971 rescue w/ a high pressure pump and a 500 gallon tank. I believe it was replaced in 1997? This is one great looking(and unique)rig <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' /> . Was this a standard WLF design??

At Company 2 was this 1970 1500/500 as E-8726. Not sure when this one was replaced. Notice the forward facing jump seats. This was a feature(along w/ hose bed bench seats) that was big on LI due to the fact that they could regularly get more than enough manpower out. The small compartment under the jump seats is also an unusual feature.

The last of this style WLF was at Company 5. It's basically a twin to the one at Company 2 minus the extra jump seats. It's also a 1970 1500/500 as E-8754.
