Ridge Fire Company (Chester County)62-1

[/quote]

Info on this rig. If you remember, I believe they were dispatched by Montgomery County, not Chester County, that is why the 92-21 number is on the front bumper.

1971 Mack CF600, canopy cab, 1000/1000. This was the first canopy cab ordered by the company, 5 KW generator. Housed 5/23/71. It was refurbed by Swab in 1986. The pump might have been upgraded to a 1250 at this time. Sent out again in late 2000 for another refurb. Donated on 11/9/08 to Mahaffey (Clearfield County, PA). It was transported there via lowboy.

Info on this "awesome" machine. I spent three hours last week driving this around during a search.

1972 Jeep CJ-5, HP/60, 4X4 field piece. The chassis was purchased from Weaver Motors of Coatesville for $2,500. A skid unit was purchased for $400 and mounted on it. It has a V-8, 304 CI gas motor, and a 3-speed manual transmission. A new pump was added in 3/86. A new Hannay reel was added in 9/81. A roll cage was added at a later date. They tried to sell it in 1990, no takers. It was totally refurbed starting in August of 1994 which included body work, repainted LYW, pump rebuilt, new emergency lighting, and a large brush guard in the front. It was placed back into service on 3/29/95. The leaf springs were replaced in 8/98 for $330 by Reading Leaf Springs due to old age. The muffler had to be replaced with a “Glass Pak” in 3/02 since the engine developed too much back pressure. It was taken out of service on 12/20/04 for a additional refurb: it was first sent to Gary’s Autobody in the Twp. for the frame to be welded and undercoating done, when it came back on 12/28, the engine was pulled for the seals to be replaced in house, and the equipment was stripped off of it so the bedliner could be installed by New Holland Bedliner. A new 2-stage 95psi Darley pump and 68 gallon metal tank were installed at this time. Also new wheels & rims and the emergency lighting were updated at this time. Work was completed (mostly in house) and placed back into service on 9/21/05.

Info on this rig. Nice rig - but it would not stop - toooo much weight.

1989 Ford F-350 XL/4-Guys, 750/250, 4X4 mini-pumper. This is used as a QRS, field piece, and water supply unit. It has a 7.5L, 460 CI gas motor, 5-speed manual transmission, and a Inverter. It cost $65,800. The chassis was built in 5/89. It was delivered 12/15/89. Additional leaf springs were added in 1993 by Reading Leaf Springs due to a weight problem in the rear. Break problems dodged this unit during its entire life due to it being overweight. It was sold on 1/10/02 to Wynn Fire & Rescue Equipment of Greeneville, TN. Placed OOS on 1/12, left on a lowboy on 1/18/02. Wynn sold it in 04/02 to the Marrowbone Fire Department (Regiena, Pike County, KY), to be used as a QRS and light rescue unit.

I'm thinking it was taken at a housing in Exton. The trucks were parked so close together so there was very few good photo ops.

Quote:1962 Mack C-85, canopy cab, 750/500. It was purchased at a price of $22,000, Mack diesel, 5-speed manual transmission. It was rehabed by Swab in 1982 for $38,000. The pump may have been upgraded from a 750 to a 1000. It sustained minor damage on 6/16/92 when it was parked to close to a working barn fire. The officer side got scortched. It was sent to a local paint shop to get it back in service as soon as possible since the 1971 Mack CF was still out of service at this time. It was sold in 7/93 to a dealer in Al who sold it to Cullman, AL to become there first piece.

The City of Cullman, AL has had a fire department for many, many years. This Mack would have to have gone to one of the small VFD's with a Cullman mailing address. Was the dealer involved called "Good Hope"? They are located in Cullman. I've photographed several Mack C's in Alabama over the years, recording the serial numbers on most. Do you have the number for the former Parkesburg rig?
