Great shots! Glad to see your dept getting new rigs. Were the Spartans ordered before or after the ALF troubles? The good part is at least they are going to deliver those 2 engines (even if they are way overdue)

[/quote]

No, The Spartan/Smeals were ordered after the ALF's. We have 11-ALF Pumpers, 4-ALF Towers, and 2-ALF Heavy Rescues, went from all Mack fleet to ALF(just the strait sticks are Smeals) because of the trouble they are in they didn't even bid on these rigs.

M, L-72's current HME/Smeal is a 2002. We run a 10-yr replacement as you guys, but funding was there (at the time) for this piece. With it's delivery we will get rid of the 1995 Seagrave as a spare. We are also expecting 2-new pumpers for E-306 & E-308 from American LaFrance, which were ordered before these, but due to ALF's current mess, they are way delayed.

What apparatus is in the spare or reserve fleet currently? I know Yonkers usually has a couple ladders, a spare

tower and possibly 5 pumpers but I am curious what the rigs are and what their first line assignments used to be.

Thanks in advance.

Right now we have: (not including the latest deliveries replacing yet)

2-ALF Tower Ladders, TL-81 a 1999 is reserve, and a TL-80, a 2002 is a spare for our two TL co's

3-Pumpers, HME/Smeal 1998 spare Engines

3-Rearmounts, a 1995 Seagrave, a 1998 Seagrave, and a 2002 HME/Smeal spares

1-ALF Heavy Rescue, a 2000 (been bieing repaired for almost 2-yrs, due to parts shortage from ALF)

Usually at any given time 1 or more companies have the spares as 1st line apparatus due to PM or repairs.

1-1993 Mack CF pumper (The last CF pumper built) being held for possible refurb to parade piece (?)

1-1990 Mack CF/Scope TL going to auction

As far as I know all the late 80's Seagrave RMAs and Mack CF pumpers & Sutphen pumpers are gone.

We're in pretty good shape for rigs the past couple years, I remember my 1st few years on, having no spares at all ! We were given a Chevy Caprice, and told to take cans, masks & tools, and that was our "Engine" !

Is there a website that they auction the old apparatus off on? Would like to keep an eye out for the 1990 Mack/Baker tower.

I'll try to find the website/info, the fire apparatus & other city trucks (DPW etc) are usually auctioned off, and mostly gets purchased by a Truck Junkyard that cuts all the stuff up...... <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/eek.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Eek' />

The two 2010 American LaFrance pumpers (finally) arrived this week also, caught a couple shots while leaving work. They will be assigned to Engine Co-306 & Engine Co-308

They are replacing 2002/4 ALF pumpers.........

Both, the new E-306 & E-308 were placed in service yesterday.

Also, yesterday at 0800, The City of Yonkers layed off 36-(Probie) Firefighters, Demoted 28-Lieutenants back to FF, Demoted 8-Capts back to Lt. (including 2-men who went from Captain rank to FIREFIGHTER) , Closed 1-Truck company, Safety Div. and the few Staff spots there were. We may also lose another Engine Co in a few days.......

who cares yonkers dosent need it, there is no crime in the westside and every building that runs along oak ave is fire proof and is separated by a 10 foot alley <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' /> (cant never find the sarcasm emoticon), What worries me more is if squad does move out of station 11 down to station 7 and they shutter 11 for good, my cousin and his wife live in the colonial heights section of yonkers which is on the border with tuckahoe its a nice area. But with my cousins wife begin a few months pregnant and godforbid a fire breaks out its gonna take 314 and 75 a few extra minutes longer for them to get to colonial parkway. Btw r1 what does this do for mutual aid??? i hope no one backs out now due to the closures i know eastchester would relocate their tower on a 3rd alarm.

New England Fire Apparatus (Smeal dealer) is located in North Haven CT right off I-91 at Exit 11. If your'e traveling S/B on 91, its right after Exit 11 merges onto the highway on your right.
