Final rig of the trip was this brand-new quint in Millington. By the time we got to Millington, we were losing the sun to an approaching thunderstorm. Not sure if this will be designated as an engine, ladder, truck, or quint.

Rumor has it, that Millington spec'ed and paid for a 75' stick, but got 100' when it was delivered. Who knows.

You shouldn't be crushed, I'm saving 34 for a real shot, you know, parked on the street, tires angled perfectly, no reflections from the rig, and oh, yeah, heavy fire showing from the building behind it. Something that can be proudly displayed. Not just an average everyday run of the mill apparatus shot.

Scott, to my knowledge this rig never ran as R66. It ran as E5, E2 then E63.



I used to climb up and down this squirt as a kid as my father was Lt on E2-A for many years

As much as space is a issue for Millington's stations, do you think that bumper is long enough ?

Lackey, this squirt was E6 years ago. When Memphis annexxed Hickory Hood, they sent the quint to 66s and squirt south to the 2s. The 75' quint was what my father was promoted to when he made driver years ago. Back then it was E63 that rode at the now station 52s, when E63 was run of the busiest companies in the area.

Not to say yall are wrong and im right this is what I recall.



At the time of delivery the Squirt was sent to the 5's. It replaced a 1980 King/Seagrave. Confirmed through my father who was detailed to the 5's often, the squirt was there upon delivery.



Germantown took over the old 2s on Forest Hill Irene in 92. SCFD E2 moved to the current station then running a 1980 Pirsch/Pierce.



During the Glory Days of Hickory Hill and due to the amount of working fires and runs, The squirt was sent to the 2's with the intentions of E62 being able to perform truck work with a aerial device shortly after E62 moved to its current station around 93. ( Yes E63 and E62 would layout several times a day sometimes, they no doubt would rank as some of the busiest companies in the county at the time )



In 94 my father was transfered from E62-A to E68-A. Confirmed through him E66 never ran anything but a Pirsch pumper at the time through 98.



When the Quints were delivered E65 and E63 both ran them until annexation of Hickory Hill by Memphis.



Now, in 98 when my father left the job on retirement E66 was running a Pirsch. In 98-99 I was working in Millington at the time. I drove by the 66s every day and only recall seeing E66 running the Pirsch then the Smeal.



Hugh BTW I have a CA clipping from around 93 that shows your father and my father both overhauling at the Spur's night club fire down in Hickory Hill with the Squirt raised in the background.



Since ive been trying to compile together a history of SCFD I will look into E66 running the squirt. I just dont ever recall seeing it out there.

I got my information from Dick Adelman. I actually saw a photo of this rig lettered as 66's pumper.

According to my source the 66's ran the squirt up until memphis took hickory hill in 2000. Then they moved the ladder from the 63's to the 66's and the squirt to E-63.

Then 98 to 00 should narrow it down even more. Especially if it had 66 on the side of it SCFD for years didnt put the Companies number on their apparatus.

This photo was taken of E62 the day they moved into their current station at Forest Hil-Irene and Shelby Dr in 1992. This is what the Squirt replaced. SCFD had 2 of these Cinncinatti cab Pirsch's. 1 had a Detroit 8-71 the other had a 6-71. This would be the one with the 8-71

Truck 3 and Truck 23 run identical 2005 E\-One Cyclone 100' aerials. Memphis originally ordered five of these along with nine 1500 gpm pumpers. Three of the pumpers and three of the trucks were cancelled due to budget shortfalls. It looks like Jersey City, NJ got one of the trucks.
