Anesti, do you happen to have a back end photo of the new battalion vehicles. Wondering if the dept is using a straight camper shell or do the shells have "barn doors" (like the older Suburbans)

It's a standard fold-down tailgate/lift-up cap door, with the slide out module.
Was out at "The Rock" a few weeks ago for training and stopped into the Mand Library while out there. Turns out that each company has a folder with lots of pics of that companies rigs and all other sorts of stuff. The light duty fireman working out there told me that if I wanted a copy of any of the pics, to set them aside and he'd put them on a disk for me and send it to me at the firehouse. Here's the pics that I picked out.

Pic taken in front of old quarters on East 176th Street. E-46 L-27 moved out of these quarters permanently in 1972. It also served as the quarters of E-46-2, L-27-2, Squad 1, Battalion 56, Ladder 58, and Rescue 3 at different periods of time. Rescue 3 was located here from 1992 till November 2009 when they moved into their new quarters on Washington Avenue.

1969 Seagrave 100' Rearmount which was originally a demonstrator rig. It was also the very first Seagrave Rearmount aerial purchased by the FDNY and also the only open cabbed Seagrave RM. I believe this rig is still in service as a reserve ladder with the Norwich, CT. Fire Department.

Stupid question from me. I was in Long Island City yesterday near the Queesn Midtown Tunnel and looked for the shops. With those archs it should not have been hard to find, but I couldn'g find them. Looks like a lot of re-generation with high rise condos etc.in that area, could it be that the shops have moved or have I lost my nose for finding things I need to find ?

It's not really a building you'd stumble upon. If it's a weekend there usually isn't anything outside. It on Hunters Point Ave Between 34th and 35th streets. There is a large (100'+) tower on the roof.
from the midtown tunnel i'd think you'd take the Long Island Xway to Greenpoint ave. then a left at the light onto greenpoint and a left onto Hunters Point Ave. Someone local can correct that if I'm off.
