Warren County Firemen's Day Parade 2013
#1
Micah and I had the opportunity to go out to Warrenton, NC for their attempt at breaking the Guinness Book of World Records attempt for the longest fire engine parade.  Unfortunately, they didn't quite make the record, but we still got to shoot a lot of fire trucks that day!  Through this topic, Micah and I will give you a run down of what all we saw in the parade.

Bill F, you can appreciate that Micah and I took time before the parade (running around like chickens with our heads cut off) to get full specs on each & every rig that appeared in the parade.  Maybe this will help your database.

Leading off the parade was Raleigh's steamer.  It's not often that you get to shoot a steamer being pulled by a team of horses!

I'd been wanting to shoot this truck for a long time.  To see how rusted down this truck was before being restored is amazing.  It's by far one of the nicest restorations I've ever seen!

This truck is owned by the Plummer Hook & Ladder Company.  They are in the process of fixing up Warrenton's old station to turn into a fire museum.  The Plummer Hook & Ladder Company was formed in 1868, making it the oldest African American volunteer fire company in North Carolina.

This pretty much wraps it up for the antiques.  I'll start with the more modern rigs soon.  Micah, feel free to jump in and post too.

When we talked to the guys from Norlina, we were disappointed to hear that the famous Brockway/Seagrave engine they ran (ex-Bowie, MD) was no longer there.  It is now back in Bowie.  Also, apparently this rig will be leaving soon.  They've replaced it with a rig you'll see later in the thread.  They've already had an FD from a nearby county ask about purchasing this rig to put in a substation.  Glad we got a picture of this one before it left too!

This was a unique rig too.  Don't think I'd shot a newer model Chevrolet canopy cab like this one before.
