Roseland, NJ 100th Anniversary Parade
#1
Went to Roseland's parade last Saturday and I must say it was probably the strangest fire parade I ever attended in my 40 years or so of doing parades.  So many marching groups - from the staff of the Roseland library to all kind of scout troops to the ladies sodality of the local Catholic church, etc.!  The parade was 30 minutes late in starting, and because of all the marchers, moved very slowly.  There were a few pieces of fire apparatus, police vehicles, and ambo's and when I left there I could hardly hear a thing because all of the emergency vehicles were sounding their sirens, air horns, etc.  What an experience!

Anyway, here are a few pics.  The rest are on my Smugmug page.

Nice pics and a nice collection of rigs.

I've been told that some of the fire departments up there actually rent bands to lead them through the parade?  I dunno, not like anything that you would see around here!

Standard operating procedure around here. And the bands are well paid, usually over $1000-2000 a parade.

And then you're told there's no money to send you to a free training class...  Banghead
