429 4-V Lima engine. Clark 5-speed. Can still pull "Ten-Mile Hill" at 60 MPH where our diesel Mack is lucky to make 45. Boardman made some great rigs and It's cool to see all the WNC departments' Boardman rigs on this site.

Hello, there. New member here and I've got a bunch of pictures from Cincinnati Fire Department. While I technically live in a suburb of Cincinnati, I'm in Cincinnati a lot (almost every day I go out). Cincinnati Fire Department was the first professional fire department in the country. The department has 26 stations, 27 engines, 12 ladder trucks, 12 medics, 2 heavy rescues, 1 HazMat truck, 1 EOD/Bomb Squad truck plus containment truck, 1 ARFF crash truck (plus one spare), 2 Mass Casualty Trucks, 1 fire boat, 3 zodiac boats, 3 foam trucks, 1 trench trailer, 1 water tanker, 1 mobile command truck, 4 district chiefs, 3 EMS Supervisors (called ALS), and 1 safety officer.

First up in my photo collection is Engine 3, a 2015 Rosenbauer Commander. 3s are quartered in Downtown Cincinnati and are first due at Great American Ballpark as well as the main library, courthouse, jail, and Hard Rock Casino.

I guess like most fire buffs, we all have our particular area of interest. Some guys might like apparatus from a certain State, or a certain chassis or type such as tillers.

Me, well, other than apparatus from the USA, I really like apparatus from Central and Eastern Europe. This is a part of the world where in some cases, fire departments don't have the funding to provide the latest equipment and you will find apparatus still in use from the 1960's and 70's. Likewise, countries such as the Czech Republic have the very latest in technology.

Each year, a group of us will take a week or so long vacation, hire a vehicle and explore this part of the world. Often they bring fantastic results, warm hospitality and interesting fire trucks. Sometimes they bring absolute craziness!

Allow me to share some of my finds with you.

First stop, Slovenia. A beautiful country which is full of mountains, lakes and greenery. The capital city is Ljubljana. Most fire departments are volunteer and whilst they have a lot of modern apparatus, they still operate some older, second-hand equipment. The volunteer fire brigade of Smlednik has this 1984 Dennis RS133 Pumper which originated from my home town of Liverpool. It has a 1000gpm pump and a 500 gallon water tank.

New user here, so I might be posting this is the wrong area, I'm not great at forum pages. Anyway does anyone have any pictures of the older trucks from Thurston County, Washington? I've seen a small few here and there, most of which I believe were taken by Bill Hattersley.

The oldest thing I've seen around here was a 1980 White tender, a 1983 GMC tender, and a 1986 ladder truck.

This is a collection I have of fire apparatus (mostly local) that are no longer serving as the unit photographed. Some have changed stations, while others have become reserves, or moved to a new department, or even been crashed. No matter the outcome, they all played a key part in their tenure of service! Hope y'all enjoy, some of the photographs date back to when I was young so I may not have all the right stats for some of them, nor the best quality images.
