I stumbled upon that earlier this summer when we were planning a vacation to the Outer Banks and settled on renting a house in Waves. Sorry, no photos spent the whole week doing family stuff....Which was fun though. I can honestly say that I didn't leave the island the whole week, and every station we passed on the island was shut up tight!!!!

Great shots of the Outer Banks trucks!!!!!
Like you I'm a regular visitor of the NC Outer Banks, mainly Ocracoke Island at least once a year, if not twice.
The 66 Darley 4x4 Fire Truck at Ocracoke has been sold to collector in Virginia, it sat outside for several years. I offer a couple of times to buy them a cover for it, but it just sat outside until sold. Also the truck pictured on the badge / sign Ocracoke uses is the Dodge Military M37 they use to own. It too was sold a few years ago. I've got photos of the M37, I'll scan and post for you, plus an old Post Card that showed both Dodges & the old Ford lined up in front of the Light house.
I'll try to scan the photos this weekend.

Thanks for the update on the Dodge /Darley. I had heard it was for sale. Nice to hear it is in Virginia.
When I visited Ocracoke, the Dodge M37 was sitting near a home/business behind the fire station covered with a large tarp. I would love to see your photos of this piece, as well as the postcard. Please post them.

I was just in Carova last week and managed to stop at the firehouse to drop off a few patches. The camera was headed down the beach for other photos (horses) with my daughter, so no photos this time. Talking with one of the brothers there, they really like the new brush unit. He also said they have a new Tanker (3000 gal) coming in sometime this summer. That would be interesting to see driving on the beach! Needless to say I was unable to get pictures of their Rescue Tool system. They have it all stored in a metal tool box that mounts to the receiver hitch of one of the pickups. They said it makes for some interesting driving on the beach with that thing on.
As for the 4x4 thing, try renting one of the Jeeps down there for the day. Or you can be like the guy with the PT Cruiser stuck in the sand.

Appreciate the information. I was told that Carova's new tanker is a vacuum style tanker, so it should be interesting. I am hoping it is in by the time I get there. I have enough sense to keep my car off of the beach (they say the richest guy in town in Carova is the tow truck operator).

Mike actually the history of this ladder truck is as follows. It was purchased and ran as unit 1006 (when the Beach still numbered their units
4 numbers) it was then sent to the oceanfront and ran as ladder 11 when they retired the 65 Seagrave mid-mount ladder) and when the tiller truck came in it was reassigned to kempsville and ran as Ladder 9 until it was retired.

Just returned from another great vacation in the Outer Banks. As in previous years, we stayed in Corolla.
I was able to visit a variety of OBX stations while traveling to and from Corolla and spending a day visiting the southern beach area. I will update information slowly over the next several days.
No photo yet of this "new" unit from Moyock - they have just purchased a 1998 Sutphen 75' 1750/500 from Rostraver Central, Pennsylvania. When we dropped by to visit, the Quint was being worked on and still marked Rostraver Central. It is painted black over red (Rostraver Central colors), however I was told that it will be repainted to red and white in the near future. One on my list to visit next year.

I stand corrected. There is only one tank, as you indicated. Just as many aerials have air supply available in the bucket, Duck equipped their Pierce rescue engine with an air tank for the pump operator. The reflection makes it appear that their are two tanks, however, there is only one.
