Dave...any chance you could grab some photos of the Rescue/Squad company on Seminary Road (just off of I-395)? I used to visit them years ago back when they were driving a Mack (two trucks ago). I was a trooper and there were in my patrol area....

Thanks

Alexandria, VA Fire Department - davemcclung - 01-16-2007

Shac, the request is noted. I will stop by Station 206 when I visit in March or April. Until then, I will find some pictures of Rescue Engine 206 to post for you. It's a 1998 Pierce Dash HDRP.

Great shots of some beautiful rigs for sure! I love seeing fellow NOVA units and thanks for posting them.

Alexandria, VA Fire Department - Guest - 01-21-2007

You might want to cruise Station 202. They have a new MCU and a new HM support unit. AND a new engine!

Alexandria, VA Fire Department - davemcclung - 01-21-2007

S0 besides Engine 202, Medic 202, Hazmat 202, the Hazmat Support unit, they have the new Mass Casualty Unit at Station 202? Where is the old Hazmat Unit parked at, anyone know?

Alexandria, VA Fire Department - davemcclung - 01-21-2007

Alexandria certainly does need that new Station 209 in Potomac Yards, they don't have enough floor space for all the new specialty equipment. A developer is paying for a 3 story station with affordable housing on top of the station in order to get city approval for a development that is more dense than they might otherwise allow in that area. Some of the trade off involved narrow streets and getting apparatus to all the buildings. Those that hear about the new station might want to confirm what I have been told. They are planning to keep Station 202 in the Del Ray section of the city open with Medic 202 stationed there.

Alexandria is planning for building a new station, Station 211 in the next few years in the growing portion of the city along Eisnehower Avenue which runs along the North side of the Capital Beltway. Station 211 will respond to the Eisenhower Valley, to incidents on the Beltway and into Fairfax County, all areas now in Engine 207's first due.

Dave, You are correct. We definitely need the new station and can't wait for it to be built. All of the preliminary drawings look good and it will definitely help us with our space and storage issue.

Lime Guy, Thanks for the visit. Glad I could assist. I hear you got the royal treatment when you headed south. Feel free to stop in anytime.

Oh Yeah, Dave...202 is only 4 blocks from Jeff. Davis..204 rarely beats us to the intersection unless we are out of quarters.
John, I don't live in Alexandria any more. I moved back to Minnesota a few years back. Though they still remember me in Fairfax County. Last August I was at FS 430 photographing their Pierce midmount tower and Pierce engine and the Deputy Chief remembered me from the summer of 1995 or 1996 when I photographed every frontline FFX CO rig in one summer. I still have all those pictures but they aren't digital. Now that I have a scanner I will try to find some time and go back and post some of those pictures. I will also find time to add the old AFD KME pumpers at some point. I will also add some old and new Minnesota stuff.
Dave - Great shots! Welcome aboard. Here's a site regarding scanning printed photos.

And I should be there in may, so much to see, so little time.

Alexandria, VA Fire Department - davemcclung - 04-14-2007

Despite the cold and rain, see my post in Fairfax New Dash's for more, I was able to get a number of Alexandria rigs. When I get back to MN and have time to post them are soon to come: Rescue 206 by request, Rescue Engine 206, Hazmat Support 202, Engine 202, Tower 203, Truck 204, one of the reserve KME's that either served front line at Engine 54/204 or 51/201 which was being used by Engine 203 when their Pierce was in for routine service, and my favorite Pierce rigs of all Engines 204 and 207. I probably would have skipped photographing them, however, they have added LED light bars and side lighting since I last was in town and photographed them. If the rain lets up and my flight gets out start looking for some of the above later this week.

Note one of the guys at 202 is a firepixer. Anyone care to opine why E 202's station says Potomac on it?
