Prior to purchasing Pierces for pumpers (Rescue Engine 206 was purchased in 1998 I believe) and but for the E-0ne Protector purchased for Engine 52/202 the Alexandria Fire Department went through a KME phase with pumpers.

Here are a few shots of of Engine 53 which, someone who knows more correct me if I am wrong, was the first KME pumper purchased by Alexandria. Engine 53 has a special place in my heard because when I moved to Alexandria in 1994 I lived in Box 5305 within Engine 53's first due. My dog would always bark and howl wildly as Engine 53 came screaming down my street to turn onto King Street which it did frequently.

Oups forgot to post some info on Engine 53....

KME, 1988 Rennegade 3kw generator, 1250 GPM, 500 GWT, 30 GFT-B. I do not believe Alexandria ownes it anymore.

The KME was replaced as Engine 203 in 1991 by the 2001 Pierce Dash which has been previously posted.

Coming attractions:

KME's from Engines 51/201, 54/204, 55/205, 56/206, 57/207, 58/208, Light/Air 207 an E\-One Air Light Unit, old Truck 203 TR/TR ladder, real old (1978) WLF TR/TR that spent time at 51 and 55s, and Engine 52/202's E\-One, and the former Hazmat unit. I need to check not sure if they are still using the old Hazmat Unit as a spare or support piece.

All to come as I get a chance to scan my old pictures.

Dave, I reworked my Alexandria photo album last night and revisited you thread to update my information. You, or anyone else, have photos of Truck 205?

Jerry

Jerry, Boat 201 the Fireboat Vigilant is a 2004 Metalcraft Marine Firestorm.

Sorry Jerry, never been one to keep track of the shop numbers. Truck 205 which became Truck 204 when it moved to Station 54/204 is one of the two 1986 Seagrave TrTrs. It is now run as Reserve Truck 291 while former Truck 203 the other 86 Seagrave TrTr is Reserve Truck 292. I will have to check, I have pictures of former Truck 203 but I have to check, I believe Truck 205 is the one rig I don't have pictures of. Every time I tried to get Truck 205 they were using the 79 Ward LaFrance TrTr so I finally gave up. I do have a few of the 79 WLF which I will post when I have time to get them scanned

Jerry, feel free to add any Alexandria pics you have, digital or scanned. I clearly like the department and can't get enough of its older and newer rigs. If anyone else has old or current Alexandria rigs that are different postitioning etc then what has already been posted join the crowd and post away.

Here is an AFD oldie....

1978 Ward LaFrance Ambassador 100' Tractor Trailer ladder/open tiller cab

I could never get a picture of Truck 55/205 one of the twin 86 Seagraves.....This unit was always being used when I would stop by Station 55/205 or had my camera otherwise. I know it served at Truck 55 at one point and I believe Truck 51, probably when it was in reserve status.

Old Truck 53/203 now carried as Reserve Truck 292

1986 Seagrave 100' Tractor Trailer ladder/open tiller cab

It is identical to Old Truck 55/204 (started at Station 55 and was shifted to Station 204 when it was remodeled) which is now carried on the roster as Reserve Truck 291.

The old HM unit is still at 202 and it carries supplies

Alexandria, VA Fire Department - davemcclung - 06-03-2007

Thanks Lime for the update. I will scan my pics of the old Hazmat unit sometime this week and post them next weekend.

Alexandria, VA Fire Department - davemcclung - 06-17-2007

Here are some scanned pictures (sometime around 1997) of old Hazmat 52/later 202. Per one of the last posts from Lime Guy it is still at Station 202 carrying hazmat supplies when needed.
