Did some more looking around and found more departments that ran 4-door rigs. Los Angeles' manifold hose wagons in the 1938-era were American Lafrance 400 series and Seagrave models, in addition to a Seagrave 100' tiller of the same era. Chicago purchased both Mack and Pirsch sedan cab pumpers starting in the late 1930's. Cleveland also experiment with sedan cabs using bothe Seagrave and Buffalo pumpers. Memphis, a big time Pirsch customer, purchased both pumpers and tiller aerials, and a long wheel base Mack B model. Cambridge (MA) also played with the idea of sedan cabs utilizing a couple of Pirsch pumpers. Dearborn (MI) in the early 1950's purchased 4 pumpers and a city-sevice ladder truck. All were Ford/Howe rigs with 4-door cabs. Im sure I can find more. Anybody got pics of any of these rigs. This was a novel idea back in the day when most apparatus ordered and purchased were fully open cab design.
