Early Hahn "customs" were built on an AutoCar or FWD cab forward chassis using a cab built by TCM (Truck Cab Manufacturers, cincinnati, OH). When Hahn began building on their own custom chassis in 1966, the same TCM cab was used. From then until 1972, when the Hahn "Eyebrow" cab was introduced, all Hahn custom apparatus used the TCM cab.



Imperial built fire apparatus from 1969-1975 and all Imperial custom apparatus had TCM cabs.

Interesting. Thanks. Answered a few questions I have had. Now I get the term "Cincinnati Cab" as well.

Imperial's rigs look very similar to Hahn's I think this was intended (body's & chassis).

Imperial & Hahn's main market was in the same area. Many Imperial rig's were sold to Hahn customers.

Both the Bensenville rigs were Pierce's with Cincinatti cabs. The truck had an early LTI ladder both had Pierce bodys. I remember when I worked ther and was a cadet the cabs had no mention of Imperial. They did have a yellow sticker that said the cab was made by TCM. Matter of a fact the Engine was the first I ever rode on to a working fire as a cadet in 1982.

Taylor: This engine originally was operated by the New Hamburg, New York Fire Department in Dutchess County. It was rebuilt by Young with a new body and water tank around 1985 and was then sold to Nelsonville, New York. When the Nelsonville Fire Company closed it was donated to Huddleston with some assitance from a local church in Otisville, New York.

I can check with one of the retired Lt's I know he was thre in 75 when they were purchased.

You are correct Dave. it is an Imperial (Pemfab chassis) Pemfab used Cincinnati/TCM on occasion or all the time.

Imperial sold a sizable number of chassis to other builders, such as Pierce, between 1973 and 1975 when they changed to the production of chassis only and changed the name to PemFab. As far as I've ever seen, Imperial used TCM cabs exclusively on their customs and I believe that PemFab continued to do so until they closed down, although some of those models were proprietary designs.

Well, The chassis were pemfab. But as it was told to me by the Ret. Lt. Nowhere on the chassis decal did it say Imperial In the original specs it was a pemfab chassis
