DCFD Photos, old or new
I tried, but thats not my end of the business... Everything else, including the shop trucks gets a full lightbar.

Reflecting on S-605 (I think), a 2000 E\-One Cyclone that was RS-2, now a ready reserve squad (that is, loaded and ready to run). Working Fire, 6th & H St. SW, back in July, 2010.

Reserve piece S-391, the 1998 Seagrave that was formerly Truck 2, is facing north on 21st St. NW at Q St. The rig was in service as Truck 3 at a fire that caused $250,000 damage to the 1897 structure housing the Phillips Collection. Innovative use of pylons, Sept. 2, 2010.

The truck company half of a RIT team comes up the street with a Stokes Full O’Tools; Engine 1 (shop serial S-152), a 2003 Seagrave, shows a little overflow discharge, as well as leaky Keystone Valve that has turned the front intake into a discharge. 21st St. NW between Q and R, Sept. 2, 2010.

Stupid question...you mentioned the "truck half" of the RIT in one of the pictures, what comprises the other 1/2 of the RIT in DCFD?

An engine company. The rapid intervention group is initially the "working fire" truck and engine.

A friend of mine sent me a power point of a bunch of old pictures. Most of the pictures had something in them that had to do with D.C.; here are the only two fire trucks.

First off, great shots as usual chief! The reflection shot is great. In response to your (non stupid) question on the "Truck Co Half" of the RIT, the chief touched on how on the initial BOX ALARM, 5 Engine Companies are sent with the 5th due Engine Company being the "Engine Half" of the RIT Group. Then when the WFD is sounded, an additional truck and engine company are sent, with that truck completing the RIT Group. However, if you were to ask any other Engine Company man (Chief you might agree <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> ), they will tell you the same thing; the "Truck Half" was coming up the street simply behind the Engine Company and they were moving so fast that they couldn't get their picture taken..... <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hysterical.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Hysterical' />

Thanks guys. The first picture was also on Shorpy.com and is Eng Co 20. The second picture is also from Shorpy.com and is not a DCFD picture.

The new rigs for DC should be arriving within the next few months. Any confirmations on assignments. I did a run down on the department, and these are what I figure would be replaced.



Engines 2, 3, and 9. All 2002 model Seagraves. Engines 10, and 15. Both 5 yrs old now. I'd imagine the old rigs would be handed down. Only question is that I was told Engine 22 will be OOS for good, due to the fire.



Truck 5. 2000 model Seagrave. Truck 11 and 14. 2001 Model Seagraves. Truck 12. 2003/93 ALF/LTI.
