Question for you Chicago Guys. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/computer.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Who's getting the Crimson Eng & Trk that have been at various "Shows" this year?
Also does anyone have specs for the new Vaccum truck CFD Spec Ops got?
Lastly any idea who's getting the new Eng's and Trk's on order form Crimson?
[/quote]
Tim as far as I know the assignments for the new Spartan/Crimson Engine and Truck haven't been published (it may have changed however since I last heard anything) but the most likely Truck company to get the new Spartan/Crimson is Truck 51 as they are Chicago's oldest first line Truck company in service with a 1995 Seagrave Patriot medium duty Aerial Ladder. There are another 6 1996 models still in service at Trucks 9,56,31,59,62 and 61. Ultimately those seven Truck companies will be getting their current rigs replaced however the question is will they actually receive the new rigs or hand me down rigs as the CFD does sometimes replace the busier companies with newer rigs and they "hand down" their rigs to slower units.
So far there are were 4 Crimson engines on this order, also 3 Crimson aerials with 1 already delivered at FRI. I don't know the specifics of the Super Sucker but it was a City Sanitation sewer vac truck.

Is that in front of ex-E42's house?

Yes that is Engine 42's old house in the background where Squad 1 was located from August 1 1963 until September 30,1968. Technically speaker it's official designation was changed from Squad 1 to "Salvage" Squad 1 on Feb 2 1967 however it still used the same apparatus and the only major difference is that additional Salvage Covers and equipment were given to the company so that they could assume more "Salvage" duty as after becoming "Salvage" Squad 1 they responded "city wide" on 2-11 alarm's along with "Salvage Squad 2" for Salvage duty.

According to what I understood, the order of 4 Engine's were delivered and put in service last spring which had included one triple stage high pressure pumper and three single stage pumper's which are in service at Engine 5,14,65 and 82 while the current Engine that was at the show at Mc Cormick place in the late summer is also a triple stage high pressure pumper and is part of an order of only 2 Engines, the second being a standard single stage pumper. The triple stage pumper will being going in service at one of our "high rise district" engine companies which will either be a downtown company or possibly one of about about 6 or 7 companies that serve "North Lake shore drive" or even possibly even the Hyde Park (south Lake shore drive district) which there has been some speculation on.The only "downtown companies" currently not using triple stage pumpers are Engines 1 and 13 however Engine 8 is also a possible candidate.
This is a great thread! Minus the 2,000 "Backdraft" questions everytime someone posts a pic of E46, T17, E52/L65 Quarters or a Ward/Ranger Engine....Backdraft was a junker of a movie, but the CFD rigs are awesome!
