All the above are good stops. Another would be Engine 7/Brush Unit. It is attached to the DCFD shops. Usually something sitting around there.

Thanks guys, i have just booked my flights, here is my plan for my day in DC i think, any tips or such would be great (But probably best to PM me, sorry to hijack the thread guys!)



1) Arrive 6:59 at DCA (Terminal C)

2) Go to Lincoln Memorial

3) Walk up to the White House (Via the various Monuments and Reflecting Pool)

4) Down to the Washington Monument

5) DCFD Engine 13/Truck 10 (Followed, time pending, by Engine 7/Workshops)

6) The Capitol (Followed, time pending, by the Newseum - i would want a good hour + there if i go)

7) Arlington National Cemetery

8) Arlington VA Fire Station #5

9) 5 PM flight (need to be at airport ~4pm im told)



I think that should all fit in well enough.

Healthy use of cabs will be required to do all that. Hell having lived there 14 years that amount of stuff would take me a 3 or 4 days.

While waiting on the bus for Emmitsburg, we always like to stop at E-16, T-3, B-6 house. Very neat house and really nice folks.

Looking on google maps it looks like most can be done in that time, one has to remember I will not be reading every plaque at every memorial or spending lengthy time at each place. Lincoln memorial I will just snap some pics and move on, Washington Monument I plan to go up snap some aerial photos and move on etc.

Well it's long walk from the Lincoln Memorial to the Washington Monument. There will probably be a line to go to the top of the memorial. So let us know how you make out.

Its not the best time of the year to be out on the street or on the National Mall, walking anywhere. Go back and look at last years snow photos, in this thread and ye shall see my friend.

Thanks, I saw that, looked great, i have plenty of cold weather clothing at the ready so wont be too bad and will make for some nice photos (Provided im not stuck in a white out!) and should lower the number of tourists on the streets.

On the DCFD, the 60-Series wagons are fully equipped ready reserves, with SCBAs and radios. There is one 60-Series wagon assigned to each battalion, numbered according its battalion. E-62 is the 60-Series wagon assigned to Battalion 2. Shop serial S-146 is a 2003 Pierce Dash, quartered at Engine 3 on Capitol Hill. The 50-Series wagons on the DCFD are water supply engines (hose wagons in another era). As with the 50-Series wagons, the second digit shows which battalion owns it; E-55 is the water supply engine assigned to the 5th Battalion. E-55 is one of two full-time staffed water supply engines. Water Supply Engine 54 sends water to the 3rd Alarm school fire from Piney Branch and Dahlia St. NW. Three water supply engines responded on this alarm; E-54, 55, and 51. This fire saw the first use of 5” supply line, which has just replaced the 4” lines previously carried. December 22, 2010.
