I'm by no means a photographer, and the conditions weren't the best today, but I do like to photograph apparatus and have wanted to post these for awhile. First is my departments:

On the back of the tanker, it sports 2 of Fairmount's favorite sons, home to Jim Davis, the creator of Garfield, and James Dean.

Question of the day . Why would a department choose not to put a quick dump on a tanker ? I have found that several departments choose to pump the water off instead of dumping , but what happens if the pump breaks down ? These would be called simply water tenders , but they are used mainly as water supply tankers . Often slowing down other tankers that can quickly dump and go .

Altough some of our departments do this from time to time all of our area tankers have large dumps. It is common to some times commit a nurse tanker behind the attack engine down a long lane so that in a sense the engines booster tank is now 4000 gal. This takes away one tanker from the shuttle but gives you more of a saftey margin with water. A 5" supply line would then be run from the tanker to the road where a supply engine and folding tank would be set up and the tanker shuttle begins.

To me , why not add a dump valve and then you have a choice ?
