They do look good. Can you say which Department you are specing similar for?

Thanks in advance.

Fair Oaks is almost the spitting of 2 we are specing now......very nice layout it seems. Looks great.

And we too thought of, and started with the Arrow XT, but given the 100" wide cab of the Velocity and the fact that we are sticking with Cummins, there was no need for the large dog house for the big block and taking up more interior room. Plus the visibility on the Impel and Velocity chassis are much better.

GOOD JOB FAIR OAKS...

I seen Fairfax Recently received 3 new Freightliner M2/Horton Medics 1 going to 441 who got the other 2? Also 441 had a 09 Model was it reassigned in frontline or to reserve?

Tim,

When I last saw them outside the shop, if memory serves me right, they were numbered for 432, 429, and 441.

Also, there should be several more EMS units in the county here shortly. A few folks from Co. 17 were heading up to the factory to do the final inspection on the new Medic 438, so it shouldn't be too much longer providing all goes well. The three units from Annandale should also be in the bunch as well.

Take care,

Ben

Is The 441 unit by any chance 4 wheel drive? I heard a rumor that they wanted an off road capability EMS unit in 441 area because of all the park land and trails. I know 412 is 4-wheel drive medic unit. Also does 441 still have the brush truck (I remember seeing a picture of it posted somewhere) that can be converted into a small ambulance type unit like 432 and 420 had at one point.

Photo5,

441 still has a brush unit. As for the AMBO Concept I dont believe so.

E438,

What are you guys getting for a medic @ 438? What are you gonna do with the old 1?

Also what 3 units are Annandale getting?

Photo5,

No, 441 is the same as all the other county spec'd units. It shouldn't be more than a week or two, as they just need to finish installing the radioes and MCT's and they should be good to go.

Tim,

Like Medic 441, the new Medic 438 is going to be the same as the county specs for the most part I believe. Most of Centreville's units have just about met the counties units spec wise.

When the new medic arrives and goes in service, the current M438 will then become Ambulance 417(-Echo). The current Ambulance 417 will probably be sold off.

Annandale is supposed to be getting three new transport units in this upcoming round. I immagine that they will be for M423, M408 and A408, and that the current M408 will then become A408(-Echo).

Take care,

Ben

Suppression support units?

Let me double check my notes from the last teleconference I listened in on; I am pretty sure they said where they were headed. I go back to work on Sunday.

I see that 414 has been running a red heavy rescue lately that looks like the twin to or the old Rescue 426. Whats the deal with their current heavy rescue (yellow) and is this their new one or are they waiting on a new rescue to be delivered. Also for those who know the department or work in it why does Rescue 426 have regular doors and not roll-up doors like most of the other rescue companies....

The old R426 is now R414, the volunteer corporation will not be replacing the slime lime rescue and I'm assuming it will be sold. Its a 98 or 99 chassis and the box was the one that burned in the 97 fire. This is both a cost issue and a lack of flexibility issue for the County in having speciality rigs (Rescues and Trucks) being volunteer owned. If they find that R414 would be better placed at 27 the County can't just take a volunteer owned rig and move it. Can they cut a deal? Sure. But it takes more time. I would not expect R1, T/L 5 or T22 to be replaced by the volunteers either but stranger things have happened and on the flip side, from the County perspective - if someone wants to buy them a $1M rig, who are they to say no.

The most likely reason for R414 (ex. R426) having non-roll up doors is that's what the apparatus committee wanted when it was ordered. Preferences change over the years, and as they say, hindsight is 20/20. They may have had some bad experiences with them in the field, or they decided they required too much space.

Another question, I believe R419 used to be running this rig since their rescue was OOS. Do they have it back, or did the county give them a different reserve?

All,

Here is a link to the Website for the dealer who has the contract for the new medic units. The link will take you to see pictures of the new Medic 438. If you go back to the deliveries page, you can also see pictures of one of the new units that is going to FS08 (A408 is pictured). http://fescosales.com/show.asp?VID=461&PID=6175#photo

Talking with a member from FS08 today, the new units are going to M408, A408 and M423, and then the current M408 will become A408E which they hope to be able to put in-service alot more often. I presume M423 and A408 are going to be sold off.

Enjoy,

Ben
