Because they are right on the border with Alexandria and run so many runs in Alexandria, and I feel like it, second due at my first house in Alexandria.....Arlington County Engine 107 2009 Arrow XT. I did not capture the job number but I have it at home, I will try to remember to post it when I get back to MN.

There is no thread for Arlington County and the FFX County thread is kinda long so I will post this here. Alexandria and Arlington are roughly similar in size.

On their Facebook page today Atlantic Emergency Solutions posted this...

"Thanks to the Arlington County, VA Fire Department on the second phase of their seven year contract with Pierce and Atlantic Emergency Solutions! Orders were recently placed for two additional Pierce Arrow XT Custom Pumpers as well as two Pierce 100’ Heavy Duty Aluminum Ladders to be built on Pierce Arrow XT chassis. We greatly appreciate our partnership with Arlington County and look forward to providing these high performance vehicles to protect the citizens of Arlington County."

Two additional Arrow XT pumpers and two Truck Companies based on Arrow XT chassis. This is the second round of purchasing from the multi-year contract they were awarded several years ago.

Come on Fairfax, time to hop on this contract and not change anything but the lettering. Seriously, just do it already.

I checked with the City today and they have not yet awarded the bid for the pumpers/trucks or the new fire boat. Talk about bureaucracy run amok, when they are awarded I will have to fill out a city freedom of information act request which first goes to the city attorney and then the purchasing department before they can send me the information on who wins the bid.

Although the bids have not been awarded yet I filed a FOIA request for the information for when they are awarded.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue will never change anything unless they are convinced beyond a reasonable doubt to a moral certainty that they invented it. I've lived through 27.5 years of it. There are many that are convinced the FRD can make a rounder wheel; say, 366 degrees. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/22_yikes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='22_yikes' />

A few items from AFD's Winter newsletter

Apparatus:

Apparatus bids closed on September 1,

2011 for fire engines and a ladder truck.

The proposed vendor is Red Storm.

Signoff should occur by mid-November.

I am assuming this means that Red Storm and Custom Fire from Osceola, WI right up the way from me are going to be awarded the bids.

Many things have happened between the vendors, purchasing, and the fire department since early December, and the entire purchasing process as been put on hold.

Taylor, thanks, I have only received run around by the city purchasing people when I contact them. The newsletter was the only information I have been able to find.

Tim, it depends on if it is a new station or a replacement for 206. It also depends on if they decide to reshuffle their deployment of resources. It is several years a way to know anything.

Station 210 is being built on Eisenhower Avenue on the site of the inpound lot.

Dave,

From what I know Alex will has decided on a new color scheme and I thought they were going with Pierce. New color scheme is black over red!!! They have just received in the the last 2 month all new command vehicles. 2 Battalion Chiefs and 2 EMS Supervisors.

Also Station 210s possible build site is an area where 206 and 208 compete to get to because they have similar response times.
