I really like the change of the side turn signals on the front of the cab to the red warning leds, and moving the turn signals to the bottom.

Found a coupla interesting shots today...

The first was taken by my Dad about 1973 and shows 98 with their new 2000 gpm ALF...as I mentioned before these were a sight to behold back then...

Another image shows the rig about 1983...after quick water modifications...pre-piped deck gun and cross lays added...they gave this treatment to almost all of the older front line engines..they also added 4 inch hose but I’m pretty sure 98 carried a bed of 4 inch hose from its earliest days..I think all the 2000 gpm engines did...I would often see them drop 3 lines at a big fire...2 1/2 3 and 4 inch all at the same time...I really wonder how much if any use 98 made of the crosslays and deck gun..probably not much if ever as most of their big jobs were hi rises.

Those are interesting shot's not only of Engine 98 as first delivered and as the modified (cross lay) version but the shot taken of the Engine 119 and Truck 55 with their ALF's in front of their station.

As you probably know Engine 119's quarters was one of the first stations to get a new modular Paramedic ambulance (Ambulance 39) put in service in the 1970s after they had put the new 40 series Ambulances in service in the downtown area and at Ambulance 47 ( Engine 108's quarters).
