Nate and others is it possible to see compartment layouts of the New RE433 at some point. Would love to see how they lay out their tools etc. Great RE433 and Station 442 photos........

Brother Dave, that won't be possible until it's in service, since I'm sure a lot of equipment will be transferred from the old RE to this one.

Once it's in service I'll contact one of the Battalion Chiefs And see what I can do.

Take care

[sub]Good questions. No one is saying much, staffing for this station is on hold because of the budget. It will sit empty and used for training until $$$ for manpower is found. Meantime, I will ask to get your answers.[/sub]

Bruce,

I guess you didn't hear... No training will be held at FS42. When the county went to Facilities to see if they could, they kindly told them "no way" because it was not designed for that purpose or that kind of people traffic. Their was a rumor out there that until the county got $$$ for career staffing the volunteers might staff it full time. However, I think that got canned pretty quick though with union issues, etc. I think it would be cool to see though, but I honestly don't see it happening at all. I don't think the volunteers could meet the challenge for 24/7 honestly (and PLEASE don't think I'm turning this in to a career vs. volunteer debate, remember this is all coming from a county volunteer too!). Would it be cool? Heck yea. Likely? Not a chance. Again, not trying to start an argument, but just MY PERSONAL OPINION.

Ben,

I heard the money was going to the academy addition and renovations. That is a large commitment for the vollies to staff 24/7 and I understand the unions feelings.

Anyone know if the 4 New Pumpers are in service yet and if FS 21 has completed their addition?

As of today the batch of 4 is not inservice E423 had their new baby sitting behind the current rig most likely figuring out where they would like to mount tools

And FS21 will be a while last I heard from their Chief was December. I'm riding with him Friday and will get you a better answer.

I am assuming it will become their reserve Rescue Engine. Currently, when the Rescue Engine is out of service they have to use old Engine 403 (Pierce Quantum), and thus be relegated to Engine Company only status. Wise choice by the City of Fairfax with their choice and timing. They have done a superb job maintaining their current Rescue Engine to the point it looks brand new. Best of luck with their new rig.

Folks from Apparatus Division stopped by my station for a few minutes yesterday while I was tending the firehouse garden in between calls and drills. I got a shady pic of their work truck and a close up of the Apparatus Division's decal on their vehicles. Just a technical point, Fairfax County Department of Vehicle Services takes care of the stuff that makes any truck a truck (drivetrain, motor, tires etc) and the Apparatus Division works on anything that makes a truck a fire truck!.

Just out of curiosity, do any of the Shops or Logistics personnel have firefighter and/or EMS certifications?
