And why does he/she need a dedicated vehicle?
Its the only unit left from the CSU program. Back when the FD and DC water were battling over fire hydrants.

Tim, if you know more about it please share. For the last 20 years it was believed that a member of FFA who's name escapes me won it in a raffle. It was donated to the National Firefighter's Parade committee and passed on to FFA/DCFD after the dissolution of the parades. Let me tell you it's a bitch to drive up 13th St until you get into 4th gear.
I want to say it came from TT's Brother. As for the FFA member winning a rig in a raffle that story is true. However the righ he won was a 37 Seagrave. The one that I now own. Any issues with the Waterous 2000gpm pumps on the three new pierces ?
i believe six came in and i'm sure 19's is broke.
They seem to break quite often. I've only photographed 3 of the 6 because they are shop queens. Not sure what is happening with 19's. it has heavy damage from an MVA.
Wait your trying to tell me the Pierce engines are shop queens; no way i thought only all the other fire apparatus manufactors only broke down.
News Flash: They all break.
So are they OOS because of pump issues or chassis problems ? I'm specifically interested in the pumps ...
I haven't heard anything regarding pump issues. Everything I've heard is based off the size, motor, and electrical systems. And yes, I do know that all manufacturers break. I'm glad that captain obvious could point that out for me. These new engines are very problematic compared to the 03 Pierce Dashs, that seem to still be running strong,

Pierce's new angled intakes help reduce friction loss and back injuries as well.

Pierce's new angled intakes help reduce friction loss and back injuries as well.
That is a Waterous S101C20 pump, Pierce had nothing to do with that intake. Some of the newer FDNY Seagrave pumpers have the same ram horn style intake.

I'm pretty sure Taylor's comment was said in jest, seeing that the intake is busted / broken off from the pump's main extension casting.........and there is other obvious damage to the pump panels and pumphouse structure......... Mechanical engineers build weapons, whereas civil engineers build targets.
When the man at the door said," Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms", I, naturally assumed it was a delivery!
Tim's right, just a little humor on my part...
