Tender 122 - 1984 White / Applied Engineering with a 3,000 gallon tank and 500 gpm pump. This unit is still in service in the Louviers area as South Metro Tender 40. Rick Davis Photo

Engine 123 - 1993 Ford / Smeal 1,000 gal tank, 1,250 gpm pump. This unit was also placed into reserve status at South Metro and quickly sold. The firefighers called these the "phone booths" and didn't like riding in them. Rick Davis Photo

Squad 123 operated this 1996 International / SVI. After the merger is stayed at Station 40 for a while as a medium duty rescue. It was then placed in reserve status as a Haz-Mat & Rescue Squad until Parker merged. It now serves as South Metro Rescue 41. Rick Davis Photo

Tender 123 - 1980 Chevrolety C70 / Kersten with a 2,000 gallon tank. South Metro briefly placed this in service as Station 33 before it was sold to the Franktown Fire District where it's currenlty in service as Tender 182. Rick Daivs Photo

This photo was also in the Louvires archives, their rigs are in this huge group of mostly Jefferson County appratus. This photo was taken in the south parking lot of Red Rocks but I have no idea what the event was for. Unknown photographer

Any idea why the LTI ladder was called a Squrt as opposed to a Quint, looks like a 75'?

I'm not sure really, they called it that when it was delivered in the mid 80's and I'm guessing that Quint wasn't in the local fire vocabulary at the time. I think eventually it was called a Quint since it had basically the same specs as the 75' Pierce. I'll ask around and try to find more details.

Just seems odd, all the other Squrts were much smaller devices, LFR, EFD, Lakewood/Bancroft, Denver were all 55's. I don't think anyone was running a 65' or 75' at the time.
