<img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/22_yikes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Here are a few images from my younger days when I spent more sunny days "chasing trains" than getting fire truck photos... <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Southbound Norfolk Southern train 211 at milepost 11 on the Shenandoah line at Antietam Station (near Sharpsburg, MD.). May,1999 Kodachrome by Warren Jenkins.

<img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' /> Everybody loves a steam engine! Western Maryland Scenic RR 2-8-0 #734 does its thing on Helmstetter's Curve, between Cumberland and Frostburg,MD. 10/03 Kodachrome by Warren Jenkins.
<img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> This day, the #734 had assistance from this "WM" GP-30. Altho the real Western Md. RWY. had no GP-30's, but this ex-Conrail unit is neat to consider...
You want TRAIN photos? Well, I got the market cornered on train shots. So since the guys at www.RRpicturearchives.com have put up with a few Fire App. photos, I'll put a few train shots on a fire related website.
Here are the oldest and newest on the Ga. Northeastern RR. GP9 is of C&O or B&O lineage I think. No clue where the GP38 is from.
BTW, Railpics is a nice site, but if you don't want those pesky pop-ups, banners and voice ad.s, try the rrpicturearchives.com site out. Lots of stuff, some good, some bad. Look up contributors and find me, Robert J. Duncan for some of my best efforts.
OK, nuff of those nasty dismals. Now on to the REAL trains. STEAM Locomotives. Here is one of my favorite shots of one of my favorite locomotives. T&P 610 was SOOOOO massive and "ugly", it was beautiful! Here she is near Cook Springs, Ala. when Southern Rwy. was using her for excursion service. Notice SOU 722 tucked neatly in behind her.
Onto another one of my faves, she's STILL in the top 10 for me. I helped in the restoration of A&WP 290 when I worked part-time for the New Ga. RR back in the late 80's. Here she is fresh out of the paint shop. Her new coat was curtosey of George Adams, lead painter for the Ga. Building Auth. and my wife's uncle. Ain't she a bute!!??
Got ya droolin' yet??? Here is my tags namesake, SOU 4501. She's simmering on a siding in Chickamauga, Ga. after her return to the proper colors, black! She's dormant now in C'nooga, TN. but may be next into the shop once SOU 630 is finished in the Soule Shops at the Tenn. Valley RR Museum.
Want more eh? OK. Here is one of the cutest lil' 2-8-0s I ever laid eyes on. Southern Rwy 722 leaves out of B'ham with a school trip one Spring in the late 70's.
Here's a sight for sore eyes. One of the most powerful tractive effort locomotives to run steam specials on the NS, back when they had decent CEOs and bigshots. N&W 1218 crosses the Etowah River bridge in Rome, GA. in the mid 80's.
N&W 611 was the mainstay for Norfolk Southern's steam runs. She was a modern marvel of a steam locomotive. Here she is toting a fantrip thur Rockmart, Ga. I sure do miss her!
Had enough yet? Not me! Here's a imaginative creation of what things might have looked like if SOU. Rwy had some Berks. Parked in Toccoa, GA, Early 80's.
200 posts here I come! Here is our "home" locomotive at TVRM. TVRM 610 was a US Army loco that was supposed to get shipped overseas but never did. Believe it or not, she is "younger" than our ex-military GP7s! With a "built on" date of 1951, She will serve our museum for many years to come.
Nite shot 2 years ago when Steve Barry came to visit us.
SLSF (Frisco) 1522 poses while pulling the NRHS special in 1995. I miss her too. She had some really pronounced stack talk when she was running hard. I'll post a few more in the next week or so. Hope you enjoyed!
Ahh the ol' Steamers. Guess I need to find my shot of Nickel Plate 587 and scan them. She doesn't run nearly as much as she used too, but I still have a few good shots of her from a run she made from Union Station here in Indy several years ago.
