Alexandria, VA Fire Department
Here is the Alexandria City Shop. The two bays on the close near side of this picture are the AFD shops. At the shops these days are an assortment of reserve rigs, the new Foam Trailer and tow vehicle (for now) and the Hazmat Trailers while Station 202 is being remodeled. Station 202 will become an EMS only station in the next year or two when the new Station 209 in Potomac Park or Landing, whatever they are calling the development is finished. Also at the shop is the Mass Casualty Unit.

On the first of my two visits to the shop I found Truck 204 in for some repairs.

I also discovered on this trip that the two Seagrave Tr/Tr Truck companies that are in reserve status have new numbers. As you will see in the next few posts the Seagrave sitting at the shops is now numbered for Truck 293 and the Seagrave which was standing in for Truck 204 is now numbered Truck 294.

Here is Truck 294 filling in for Truck 204. I didn't have the heart to have them move it so here it is in station. This is more to illustrate the new numbering.

You would be correct. AFD has a history of tomar lightbars going back to the strobe variety on E 204 and E207 previously. See the early pages of this thread for those pictures.

More shots from my first trip to the AFD shops.

First up is Engine 291 which is the old Engine 202's 1992 E\-One Cyclone, 1250 GPM, 500 GWT, 30 GFT(<img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />. You will remember from an earlier post that last fall I caught the old Engine 201 (1990 KME Renegade, 1250 GPM, 500 GWT, 30 GFT(<img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />) lettered and running as Engine 291 being used by Engine 203 when their 2001 Dash was in the shop. Notice in the shots with Engine 291 (the old E\-One) that old Engine 201 is now lettered for Engine 292. Also at the shop was the old Engine 204 (1250 GPM, 500 GWT, 30 GFT(<img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />) lettered for Engine 298.

I have a feeling it is going to be hard to keep up with the numbering system for the reserve trucks and engines but I will try during my trips to keep on top of it.
