The Seagrave rig you're referring to is one of my favorite wagon's of all time. You can find pictures of it in the "Virginia Apparatus" thread.

Did I mention that while enroute to Unionville CT (Hartford suburbs) from Virginia that their convoy of 4 fire deartment vehicles was detoured into upper Manhattan off the New York City side of the George Washington Bridge? Those guys never thought that their apparatus would cruise by the famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem.

Fairfax County purchased five 1973 Imperial engines equipped as 1000/500. Eventually, all 5 were rehabed by E\-One. These rehabs began a very long relationship with E\-One.

Wagon 16 in Clifton had one of the 1973 Imperials assigned there.

I photographed this engine in front of the Clifton House, across the street from the station.

Mike, It's quite funny you posted this picture since I just had a discussion with a friend of mine (just last night)who's first job at American Fire Equipment was to remove the bodies from these 5 Imperials for the E\-One glider project. Strange that these units went to PemFab firstto get new cabs and then to E\-One for the bodies.

Dave, I know what a fan of Alexandria you are, so here's a shot of Engine 205 in quarters.

Nate, I appreciate it! Yes, when it comes down to it my picture taking priority is Alexandria and slightly behind are MWAA and FFXCO, now that Arlington has gone with Pierce, I have to bump them up on the list.

Mike, what station assignments did the Imperial's go to? I have Herndon, Great Falls, Clifton, Gunston, but don't have where the last one went. Is this correct?

Micah,

In all honesty, I am not sure. The Imperials ended up at quite a few stations throughout their careers, with some stations at one point operating two at the same house. Same story for the Imperials when they were rehabed....they ended up at numerous stations.

Here is what I know. Two were received initially followed shortly thereafter by three more. The first two were assigned to Station 11 and Station 22. I have older photos of Imperials at those stations. The remaining three were to be assigned to some of the newer stations that were to be built. Until that time, I believe they were assigned to stations that did not operate a second engine (it was common at that time for the engine companies being 2 piece units). From there, I am not sure.

The Imperials ended up at a variety of fire houses across the county, and some stations even ran two of them at one time.

Engine 101. This rig reminds me A LOT of the newer Engines recently received by Bladensburg and Riverdale over in PG County, although Arlington went with a higher rear hose bed.

For whatever reason the rear chevrons on these new rigs don't bother me as much as others I have seen...

AND they have roto-rays! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/luxhello.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Luxhello' />
