Where exactly on the lakefront is the Air Sea Rescue facility located? And, normally, are all 3 helicopters Bell 412's?

How many FF's staff the Air-Sea Rescue facility? Are they strictly rescue (SCUBA, etc.), or do they have any firefighting duties? Do they perform Aeromedical Evac?

Some info on air sea rescue...they have 3 choppers normally but one was recently given over to CPD and 681 was lost to a crash about a month ago..they lost power to the tailrotor and made an autorotation landing but then flipped over once on the ground..several members hurt but all seem to be doing ok and some are back to work..the chopper crew is a pilot, co pilot and 2 divers..they respond to all dive/water rescue incidents on the lakefront and river...they also respond to hi rise fires to provide aerial recon..they do not do any medical evac

This is a 24/7 365 operation

I believe at Station 21, former location of Meigs Field.

Jamie,

I'm thinking not. If you look in the background behind the hanger, you'll see alot of trees. The only thing that should have been behind the hangar buildings that were left at Meigs should be water, and the skyline of the downtown buildings. But I could be wrong too !

Was kind of hoping Srresuire could tell us, as he was there to take those pics !!!
