The big Internation P.O.D. transporter at Jefferson, was it ever at Station #30 in Merrifield and was it ever designated something besides Technical Rescue Support Unit?

Thanks in advance.

Ladder 68, Yes The POD unit from Jeffeson was previously the one at Merrifield hauling the Communications Pod. With the arrival of the Command & Communication Vehicles it switched jobs. The Communication Pod is still around I believe. Last time I saw it, it was at 434 in Oakton.

I'm pretty sure it's the hazmat POD (stocked w/harbor booms I seem to remember from my hazmat unit days) that is stored at FS34, not the communications POD. 18 has the lumber POD and the transporter and the tranporter was up at North Apparatus the last I saw it on December 4.

SrFireOffical, The Hazmat Pod is at 440. Communication Pod at 434. Lumber Pod at 418 w/ Transporter.

Fairfax stopped using the designator "wagon" about 1983. Get it right son.

Nate knows FXCO well enough to know that none of the engines are called Wagons, I think he was just using an old-school NoVA term to liven things up a little. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />

Dave,

While your in town, get some shots of one of the new Arlington engines if you get a chance. I see they are posted up on singers website.

Patrick, it rained all day today and my flight tomorrow is at 10am, I will officially miss shooting the Arlington engines, unfortunatly. They will have to wait until May. I have a lot of shooting to do in May..... Arlington Co, FFX Co engines, MWAA Tower, a trip to Maryland, a trip to Buena Vista for their PUC, and perhaps a foray into PA.

Well if ya make it to PA give me a shout. Any idea the dates in May? The Harrisburg Fire Expo is the third weekend, and is usually a good event.

Patrick, my flight was delayed due to the fog in DC so I staked out Station 107 which is fairly close to the airport but they were out most of the morning. so I tried to get a shot of at least one of the new rigs. I did get a shot of the field side of Station 301 but it is a dreaded "through the glass shot" and there is some reflection. I will post it later this week when I get a chance to down load the pictures from my camera and post them in the MWAA thread.
