Sr - I couldn't make it to Hummer Rd yesterday but it sounded like a hell of a job. Also sounded like the interior guys took a beating and worked for quite some time before getting pulled out due to deteriorating conditions. Communication was calm from start to finish and the command staff sounded on top of their game.

Strong work.

Nate about what time did the box go out? I want to go and listen to the run on RR (best money I ever paid to become a premium member there so I can go back and listen to the good calls I miss).

A picture of 418 Engine I snapped while I was in town a few months back doing my application stuff (poly, psych, medical).

The crew(s) at Firehouse 418 in Jefferson were very nice and accomodating and gave me a lot of great info. Thanks guys and I hope to be riding one of these rigs in the very near future!!

Does anybody have a photo of that pick-up truck that had a large monitor mounted to it (I think it was in the 80's), and was it ever used?

I don't have a picture of it but a little history. It was originally Brush 15, a Dodge PowerWagon assigned to the Chantilly Fire Station. The station captain there at that time (wise beyond his years and a future deputy fire chief) was concerned about the then increasing lightweight construction beginning to appear in the western part of the county, namely, the sprawling Shenadoah Crossing apartment complex east of FS15 on Route 50 and decided to outfit the old brush beast with portable deluge sets so it could be driven into the fire area laying its own three inch supply line. The unit was referred to as HARV for heavy appliance response vehicle. I'm not sure if it ever saw duty as its intended purpose. Maybe some of the others here have some archival photos of it.

Hope that helps.

Engine504 - Thanks for digging up the photo, and Sr. - thanks for the history.......I heard about this thing years ago, but folks seem to know little about it.

Glad to hear that, because to me those new trucks look funny without them, you just can't "substitute a Roto Ray"

I also wish the new trucks still had coffin boxes or "Rescue" style bodies, but I don't see that coming back.

Hey does anyone have any more pictures of the heavy rescues? Are they walk in style like dcfd and fdny?

E423 (West Annadale)is officially running old E430 (V7203). Only indication that it is 23's piece is a white 423 on the window across the top of the crew doors. No 423 on front bumper, no "Little River Express" decal where 30's old patch was.
