I hope you saved your gas money and stayed in PA. I don't think there will be any photos in Virginia this weekend. Never trush the weather idiots! Rain/snow here.

Jerry,

The weather the other day was great, but like you said the weather idiots can't predict anything. lol. Just a couple days ago they were calling for bright sunshine tomorrow, and now look at it. I think they pull out of a hat.

Is Engine 407 (Training Academy) an actual responding engine company or is the engine dedicated to training?

Engine 407 has been re-deployed from the Fire Academy where is was used as an instructional piece for the recruits to Engine Company 401 in McLean. E401 had been operating a 1997 Pierece Lance that was having chronic mechanical problems due to its age and heavy usage. E401 was purchased by the McLean VFD and operated by the career staff at Fire Station 1. E407 took over as E401 this past Tuesday. If memory serves me, the 97 Lance was 1500 gpm/750 gwt and 40 gal AFFF; The 2007 Dash replacing it should be 1500 gpm, 750 gwt and 40 gal Foam concentrate.

The McLean VFD put down a large chunk of money for the new Rescue 401 a few years back. I don't think they have sufficient cash on hand to purchase a new pumper anytime soon. I'll make an inquiry or two.

Great Shots Mike. Glad to see your the first one to the McLean engine. We saw it the other week having the hose transferred, but it was unable to be photographed. Keep'em coming. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Thumbsup' />

Mike,

Great shot of E401 (407). E401 is now the trainning engine at the Academy. We used it during training on Saturday (That cab is TIGHT!) Do you happen to know if this is permanent or just a temporary, long term type deal?

Ben,

The 2007 Dash as Engine 401 in permanent. The old engine 401 being the training engine, I am not sure about. I would be curious to find out though.

Centreville's Engine 417 is a 2008 Pierce Dash 1500/750/40 with job number 19950. They don't come more "limer" than this. I really like this engine.

Mike, what is the status of the Pierce Lance that was E417? Is it a reserve now or a 2nd out engine out of Centreville?

It is the second piece at FS 417. It is used when the 2008 Pierce is out of service and occasionally at FS 438 in West Centreville.
