Truckman, the newest Tanker is K442. Station 442 has been delayed so not sure what FFX is doing with that rig until the station is completed. It is also a Pierce Mack Granite. I think there was a picture posted somewhere on firepics, I am searching for it now. Found it in Terry's Tid Bits II just search by Tanker 442 to find it in Terry's thread.

The county also has a pumper on a Velocity chassis on order as well as I think a rear mount ladder, rescue squad and I head a hazmat vehicle all on Velocity chassis as well. Perhaps someone who knows more can confirm that.

17 had two Pierce engines, a 96 I think that was E417 and then V090 which was the Javelin that I've heard so much about but never saw before they did the glider kit. That was the rig marked 438. The 96 suffered the same fate as V114 (13's 93 Arrow) and lost a motor. I think 17 already had the 08 on order or was in the process then so they put V090 frontline at 17 until the new rig came in and now the 08 is E417 and the glider kit is E417B.

So Shawn or anyone, what happened to the 1996 Pierce at FS17 after it blew the motor? Is it still around? Where? This one:

1996 Pierce Lance, 4-door/7-man, l/w, rescue pumper, roll-up doors, Allison AT, Detroit 400 HP diesel, 7.5 kW Onan generator, Elkhart Foam system, delivered 9-96,

1250 (Waterous)/750 (Poly)/40, #V094, {Pierce #EA085}

Thank you - Jerry

I've asked the question about V94, will let you know when I hear back. As for what's on order, the stick is going to 429, it should be done, it was in post paint over a month ago. I forget the order of the rest, but I understand it's an engine, a rescue and a new HazMat Support Unit - all I thought on Velocity chassis. I can tell you the order number of the engine is 21399 for those that track those things - we kept referencing it in the engineering meeting for our new engine - so much so I know its number and not that of our own truck!

Shawn - Who is getting the new Rescue? With 11, 18 and 39 already having new ones that leaves 14, 19, 21 & 26, and 21 & 26's aren't that old and 14 & 19 are vol affiliated departments.

Just curious if you happen to know. Thanks in advance.

Shawn, when is your PUC due in town? I fear it will be after my May/June trip and I will have to hit you up during my October trip to arrange some shots.

Thanks for the good info.

I hate being confused!!!! Let me try once more.

Shaun is checking on V094 the 1996 Lance, but obviously it is not at FS17. Correct?

Here is what I show on order:

TBA: 2009 Pierce Velocity, 4-door, white/red, 1500/750 due 3-09

TBA or Truck 429 2009 Pierce Velocity, 4-door, white/red, 105’ RM ladder due 3-09

TBA: 2009 Pierce Velocity, 4-door, white/red, heavy rescue, 250/200 due 7-09

TB or HM440: 2009 Pierce Velocity, 4-door, white/red, hazmat unit due 7-09

I also show a Veolcity PUC for FS13 due in July. I know of nothing on order for FS17, but now believe a new Pierce is on order there.

Do I have any correct? Truck to 429? Hazmat to 440? And unknown on the rescue and engines.

Fianlly, if a new Pierce is on order for FS17, will it be county white/red, or volunteer white/lime?

Any help will be welcome. I should be speaking with the folks at Singer later this week to update their apparatus orders. Maybe I'll be able to shed some light on things then. HELP?

Jerry,

Mike posted pics of 417's 2008 Dash which is similar to the county specs for Engines. I haven't heard of a second order for 417. Might we be getting the Lance and the Javalin Glider rebuild mixed up?

Ok to clear things up:

1. FS417 only has two engines. The new 2008 Pierce pictured in this thread a page or so ago and the Glider Kit also pictured a page or two ago. Nothing should be on order. The disposition of V094 (the 96 Pierce) is below:

We sold it to a used apparatus dealer from Alabama. he had a motor for it

in stock, and planned to replace the lunched original with his rebuilt

diesel and sell the unit

2. The list below is right to my knowledge as to what's on order by the County proper, though the due dates are up to question, at least as far as the engine is concerned. They told me when it was coming and it may be with our PUC but I forget. The only assignment I know for sure is Truck 429. The Rescue I heard rumor was going to 26 and 26's rig was going in the reserve fleet but I don't know that for fact, and don't forget that two rescues were in the budget to be cut. Not saying it happens, just that two were listed. The HazMat unit is slated currently to become new HMSU 440. The engine I haven't heard where it's to go.

3. V135 (new E413) is due July/August. I just got the change orders from the engineering trip on Friday afternoon so I'll know more once we review and approve those.

4. K442 I think is at apparatus south awaiting equipment.

Hope that helps clear things up.

Shawn
In all honesty, I am not real sure. My stop at FS 417 was a quick one and I wanted to get the new 2008 Pierce. There was another Pierce sitting behind the Canteen, but I did not check it out. Next time I am in the area I will stop in again.

Anybody else been to FS 417 and FS 438 in Centreville recently?

Mike Sanders

Ashburn, VA
Mike and all,

I'm here to clear things up with Engines 417 & 438. I fairly certain this is correct, accounting that my dad is the Station Captain at FS38.

And just to sort of clear things up between FS17 & FS38, FS38 is a "branch" of FS17, that is NOT owned by the volunteers, but by the county.

Okay:

1. Engine 417, the 1996 Pierce Lance, was the original E417.

2. In 2001, the CVFD ordered a new Pierce Lance Engine Company for E438, which was ordered and numbered as E438 in CVFD paint.

3. Evidently, the order was taking to long to complete, so the County ordered an Engine for FS38, which was the 2001 E\-One Cyclone II.

4. Instead of selling it, CVFD kept the Pierce Lance that was to be E438, and used it as E417-B. It was kept behind the Canteen unit, and it stayed number as E438, even though it was used as E417-B, and once in a blue moon used as the frontline E417 when it would go down Many of the times I have seen E417 down they will run a county reserve engine.

5. A little over a year ago, something happened with E417, and it was basically inusable. So instead of taking a county reserve, they took E417-B (which was STILL lettered as E438 and ran it as the frontline E417. Sometime during it's service while the 2008 Pierce Dash was being ordered, E417-B(which was numbered as E438) was renumbered to be E417 until the 2008 Dash came in.

6. Once the Dash came in and went into service, E417 (the Original CVFD E438) became E417-B again. I was at FS17 yesterday, and it has been renumbered to be E417B. Again, it is sitting behind the canteen unit.

I hope this clears things up....sorta. If I have left anyone in the dark, let me know and I will try to explain it again.

Only once in a blue moon is E417-B used as a reserve from what I have seen. E438 (the E\-One) has been in the shops for several weeks, and it will probably be another couple of weeks before it gets back. Evidently the Engine is down in Fredricksburg getting some body work done. If anyone is down in Fredricksburg, if its not to much trouble, please try to get pictures of it.

As of right now, Vech. #7602 (Ex E425, the 2002 E\-One Cyclone II) is running as E438.

I hope this clears things up....sorta. If I have left anyone in the dark, let me know and I will try to explain it again.

Thanks,

Ben

PS: BTW if anyone is interested, Rescue 421 is running a 2-Piece Rescue while there main rescue is in the shop.

Yes they are. Since I live in 21's box I see it fairly often. They are using the E\-One reserve and the OLD Hazmat support 34 (Coke truck) as the Rescue support vehicle. These 2:
