"Big Mo" 6-7-2 had two different military chassis after the Jeep - one painted black over red and one painted CD blue. Which was the first of them and when was the turret assembly transferred to the final chassis? And: Did the first version on the Jeep ever respond to a fire?[/quote] I only know that the second rig after the Jeep was the black over red rig and I think that may have been a REO however I don't have the date that the deluge assembly was transferred to the final (white over blue chassis). As far as the first version responding to a fire , I would have thought so however I can't say with 100% certainty but I did see the Chicago Fire Department doing a live Water pumping test on the Original "Big Mo" next to the Water Filtration Plant (north of Navy Pier) in the Spring of 1967 and the rig had remained upright at the time.

Thanks - that makes the sequence of chassis clear. I think the black over red chassis was an International - a picture is available here: [post="0"]http://www.chicagocivildefense.org/cfdphotospage.html [/post] Scroll down the page to row JJJ. If anybody has a better photo - i would love to see it posted.

From what I was told, this unit responds on all 2-11 high rise fires. As to what equipment it carries, I'm really not sure. Some of the local Chicago buffs may be able to answer that one. Evan |
