Why are the Rescue Trucks yellow? Thanks in advance. Rick

I recall that it was a visibility thing, as well as somewhat of a tradition. Golden's rescues frequently run up into Clear Creek canyon on Highway 58 on auto accidents. It is (was? - I don't know if they widened it) narrow and has lots of tunnels.

Denver had 2 yellow rescues: A 1973 Mack CF/Gerstenslager (retired to reserve in 1983) and a yellow 1971(?) Ford C/Gerstenslager that ran as the water rescue until just a couple of years ago.

I spent yesterday morning shooting the Rattlesnake Fire Protection District, a lot of people have seen their unique "ISO Slayer" engines. First up is Engine 51, a 1997 HME 6x6 / Darley with a 2400 gallon water tank & CAFS.

The former Chief named each of the 3 identical engines "Rattlers" this one is the Red Rattler. There are no cross-lays on the engines so they use 200' of

1 3/4 in the bumper trays. There is also an extrication tool and scene light ready to go... oh ya, and two remote nozzles.
