One thing that can't be ignored is the fact that 10's house is volunteer owned and being replaced with a county-owned facility. There's going to be a certain amount of politics involved in that...not using the word politics as a negative word, rather, a factual word. While it would probably be nice for all metro-sized departments to have a prototype building ready to go (we do at work and at the volunteer county too), it's often times not an option when you start dealing with LEED-certified buildings. Furthermore, if demolition, new site acqusition, and other variables all go into a project like this, causing delays. I feel for the brothers not having a home, but having dealt with fire station construction, I can't say I'm surprised by the time-line either.
