The DCFD currently staffs it's truck companies with 5 people. In the early 90's we had the staffing on our trucks reduced from 5 to 4. The staffing returned to 5 people in the early 00's. Many years ago the DCFD had 6 person truck companies, though I don't know when it got changed to 5.

IIRC, in the contract settled in 1985, manning was reduced on Truck Companies from 6 to 5, and the Aides returned to the BFC buggies. The sixth man on Truck Companies functioned as a manpower pool to bring companies back up to strength should a member need leave during the tour (and back then tours were 10 hour days and 14 hour nights on the 3-3-3 schedule) <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/3_12_21.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/stirpot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> !!!!!
