In the southern metro area two fire department medic units respond to every structure fire.  The first arriving medic unit is dedicated to firefighting tasks while the second is used only for medical stand by / transport.  Generally the medic crews are always on a hose line backing up an engine company.  With South Metro the Ladder Chauffer and senior Firefighter pair together to make the "Bravo Team" and the Officer & other Firefighter will make the "Alpha Team."  On residential structure fires they almost always split to perform inside and out side work or can go "all in" to a specific task.
