Found a coupla interesting shots today...
The first was taken by my Dad about 1973 and shows 98 with their new 2000 gpm ALF...as I mentioned before these were a sight to behold back then...
Another image shows the rig about 1983...after quick water modifications...pre-piped deck gun and cross lays added...they gave this treatment to almost all of the older front line engines..they also added 4 inch hose but I’m pretty sure 98 carried a bed of 4 inch hose from its earliest days..I think all the 2000 gpm engines did...I would often see them drop 3 lines at a big fire...2 1/2 3 and 4 inch all at the same time...I really wonder how much if any use 98 made of the crosslays and deck gun..probably not much if ever as most of their big jobs were hi rises.
