That's the original Haz-Mat 5-1-1.
Also the spare snorkel was the original 6-6-1 that was housed at Engine 35/Truck 28 and was special called on extra alarms.
If it is now retired, what rig is in its place???
[/quote] Jamie, the Spartan/Saulsbury white over red Haz/Mat rig was the first Custom built and specified Haz/Mat apparatus for the Chicago Fire Department, however it was not the original 5-1-1 Haz/Mat rig. Before we were using the Spartan/Saulsbury rig the Chicago Fire Department shops had rebuilt and repainted one of our 1972/73 model Mack/Platt former Flying Manpower Squad rigs as our Haz/Mat company. This was done in the mid 1980's and the rig was also repainted white over red. The Mack/Platt Haz/Mat rig was also being used as the Spare Haz Mat rig for a few years after the Spartan Saulsbury rig was delivered in the early 1990;s.
