I agree that there is just no substitute or an equivalent for how Chicago has historically used the Snorkel. The question will be does Chicago want a device capable of rescue and how maneuverable will it be...or will they be fine with a "rescue truck with an elevated WATERWAY?" This dilemna (thanks to ALF) and what happens with the FDNY pumper contract seem to be the most interesting apparatus stories in quite some time.
For the record, I do wish ALF would just go away, LOL. As mentioned, ALF hasn't truly existed since the early 1980s. The Kersey ALFs that followed were okay. But, Hebe's ALF just starting piling up the train cars that has become the current train wreck it is. That man also nearly killed Seagrave...and ulitmately may have, if things continue...
