The 2005 Seagrave order included ENGINE Co. 10's S-160, they were a substantial improvement from the previous Seagraves and Apparatus the DCFD had purchased as these were the one of the first batch of Engines with the 60 Series Detriot Engine and Allison EVS 4000 series transmission. The previous wagons had the smaller 40 series Detroit engine and Allison EVS 3000 series transmission that was ok, however, the new wagons were made for city driving.
The doors is one of the biggest difference in the 2005 and 2006 batch. Also the 2006 Seagrave and according to the DCFD all future apparatus shall be constructed of Stainless Steel, both the cab and the body. That is why the S.S. turned up in the shop numbers to identfy which pieces are constructed from Stainless Steel. Engine Co. 10 is S-160, where is Engine 8 is S-??? S.S.
