Because our chief at the time, Ronnie Few, liked Pierce from his relationship with them at his former place of employment. There was actually one member of the senior FD staff who wanted to split the order 3 ways between EOne, Pierce, and Seagrave. Luckily he didn't get his way as the EOnes were pure junk then. The Pierces were a good quality piece, the only problem with them is that the interior space in the crew cab was not sufficient. Seagrave was preferred by the 'end users', and Seagrave gave us the best of both worlds in that they were a quality piece, but also had sufficient room in the cabs.
