“Contemporary” referred to the previous post of an image taken in an era when the DCFD ambulance was used only in an emergency – a last resort, over and against the present-day service. That U-Haul sign sort of epitomizes today's EMS, which is used for many-many non-emergencies. The year 2007 saw 122,249 EMS incidents, of which 59,737 were charitably deemed non-critical.
