In 1968 Ward LaFrance delivered five 750-gpm pumpers on Ford chassis (S-101 thru 105). They measured 22’6” long and weighed 10 ¼ tons.
Here’s Engine 10’s WLF pulling up in front of quarters, 1342 Florida Ave NE. The firehouse opened in 1925 as the quarters of Truck Co. 13 (one of eight truck houses) and the reserve horse-drawn Water Tower, which had been converted to a towed apparatus. Engine Co. 10 moved here in 1940 from their 1895 house at 1341 Maryland Ave. NE (still there). September, 1987 photo.
