Though Ford had ceased production of the C cab, manufacturers continued their use through stock. Five such Ford C8000/ Emergency Ones were taken in 1990, and were given to Engine Companies 7, 11, 21, 22, and 23. Previously, crew boxes were the tallest portion of the pumper; these were even with the cab tops.
The older Ford crewbox apparatus sported Circle-D lights mounted on poles behind the crewbox; the new generation had Night-fighter spot/ flood lights. These came into vogue with S 154 (Hahn) in 1982.
