Heard the other day from our area Pierce dealer that the Enforcer has recieved a reprieve from being discontinued. Anyone heard the same?



They sited the huge popularity of the Enforcer chassis.

The only way that would be possible is if they redesigned it to accept the 2007 compliant engines or they have a larger supply of 2006 engines than they they have told anyone. Interesting rumor though.

This one maybe true.The Enforcer was a Cummins only chassis and the problem from what I had heard was that the Detroit engines would not fit when they were trying to redesign the Dash and when it was taking more time and money than Oshkosh wanted they pulled the plug on the redesign.

Maybe our resident Pierce man could shed some light on this when he gets a chance...

Nothing official has been issued concerning the resurrection of the ENFORCER chassis. Many of us had hoped that the ENFORCER would be kept as the replacement for the CUSTOM CONTENDER / SABER Chassis, but as it is the SABER based chassis is staying. The IMPEL was designed to be the ENFORCER's replacement, so it wouldn't make much sense to keep both the IMPEL and ENFORCER in the line-up competing for the same sales.



Current Line-up of Pierce Chassis.



Quantum - Multi-plex wiring, Big Block Engines, Single and Tandem Axles.



Arrow-XT - Non Multi-plex wiring, Big Block Engines, Single and Tandem Axles.



Velocity - Multi-plex wiring, Big Block and Medium Block Engines, Single and Tandem Axles.



Impel - Multi-plex wiring, Medium Block Engines, Single Axle and Limited Tandem Axles Capacities.



Custom Contender / Saber - Non Multi-plex chassis, Medium Block Engines, Single Axle Only.

I just shot a new Enforcer 75' Quint with a Cat C-9 engine and Allison 3000 EVS, which I thought was weird, as I believe that the engine tops out at 400HP. I made the assumption that they were running out of non compliant engines.

The ENFORCER used either a Cat C-9 or Cummins ISC or ISL engine. Originally the chassis was also available with a Detroit Series 40 engine....



The available 2006 engine are for the most part spoken for and under contract or on a reserved list. Any engine does that comes available off the reserve list is quickly picked up by another customer. A pair of Cummins ISL engines came of the reserved list last week and our dealership picked them up and had them sold with 30 minutes of being made available.



With the build times for new apparatus running at 6 to 10 months depending on the type of rig, you will still see new heritage chassis (Dash, Lance, and Enforcer) deliveries well into 2008.

Sad to see the new Fairfax County units sans Roto-Rays. Another tradition dies, I guess. I've heard the Pierce's aren't too popular with many of the FFX firefighters. I've got a cousin who's a Lt. on a truck company, said the E-Ones, despite their shortcomings, were better liked and the design of the compartment space on the Pierce's, particularly the engines, leaves alot to be desired. I've only seen pics of the Pierces. Any active FFX guys have any comments?

My Captain affectionaly referes to the pierces as the "pierces of ****". We are currently having problems with the Tak 4 suspension system on the engines. there is also a problem with air building up in the rear discharge during routine operation. At a working fire my driver was nearly knocked unconcious when removing the storz cap, due to the pressure buildup it exploded off and they fell off the tailboard. After asking around, this was found to have happened to a few people around the department, and a safety bulliten was issued stating that the engines were to roll with the bleeder valves open at all times.



We bought 3 Pierce midmount towers to deal with the massive amount of strip shopping centers we have in the county (for the ability to sweep below grade) and the outriggers on the towers are so f*ing massive that you cant sweep but a few degrees. But Icant say much else about the trucks since I dont work at a truck house.



My personal complaints about the engines are 1. the fact that they are 32 feet long, yet have a very cramped cab. (32 feet is about 4 feet too long if you ask me) 2. have no intakes/discharges on the drivers side. 3. have NO access to lubricate the levers for the crosslays and such.

On my last three trips I have heard nothing but good things from the FFX County guys about the Pierce trucks.

Pierce is certainly not perfect by any standard but 2 out of 3 things mentioned are spec'ed and approved by the department,maybe someone needs to speak up to those people who are in charge and tell them these things are not working.As far as access to lube the levers this is something that Pierce should have come to your aid in my opinion.
