Any news when the 3 Velocity rescues will be in town or what their assignments will be?

Anyone know which Centreville company is getting the new Dash? Will it be at 417? Is is going to be similar to E422 which Springfield just put in service?

Does anyone know whatever happened to the Fair Oaks Volunteer Fire Department's (FFX County Station 421) Pierce Lance Rescue Engine. I only saw it once and never was able to shoot it. Does anyone know where it is? Anyone have any old pictures they can add or any pictures of where it is now?

The 3 Velocity Rescues will be assigned to 411, 418, and 439. Fair Oaks also still has their Volunteer Rescue/Engine. It runs out of the back of the station. I haven't been able to get a picture of it yet either, but I have a friend down there. Next time you go back let me know and I'll send you his number.

I talked with my friend from Singer last week and the 3 rescues are due in town sometime this week and the Centerville truck later in the month of July.

Patrick, I will give you a call prior to my next trip in early October. Had I known they still had it I would have made a stop during my May/June trip. I only passed by the station like 5 times

Terry, Thanks for the update on the timeline on the new arrivals.

Last year, when I was down in Va. attending the Command Post Ralley, I stopped by Fair Oaks, and got this shot of The Rescue Pumper running out of the back bay.

I haven't had much time on this trip to Fairfax County, or much luck for that matter, but I did shoot a few rigs today that I will post when I get back to Minnesota. Today I tried to shoot the new Rescues at 411, 418, and 439, Engine 424, which I think is running the Pierce that was running as Engine 441 before 441 got one of the new CAFS engines, Engine 412 and 420 two of the new CAFS engines, and Engine 422. I was able to catch Engine 416 (new CAFS engine), Tanker 416, Engine 417 and a reserve E\-One pumper.

The new Rescues are in town and have been for a while but are not yet in service. One of the guys at 439 said he didn't know when they would be in service but it would probably be another month or two. Guess I will have to catch them next spring. I also drove past the land for the new Station 442 on Leesburg Pike at Beulah Road. I have heard that the station construction was delayed. I haven't heard anything else. It will be nice when that Station finally opens.

It is delayed indefinitely due to a $25,000,000 reduction in the budget for next year.

I understand it is budget related, however, there are two items I just don't understand. First I undernstand the apparatus for the station has been ordered. I believe Tanker 442 is here or soon will be. Second, I thought stations were paid for out of the public safety bonds. Is the budget reduction a reduction in the operations budget that prevents staffing of the Engine, Tanker, and ambulance or medic?
