In September of 1979 I attended the Pennsylvania State Firemans Convention Parade in Reading,Pa.The Goodwill of Darby Township Hamerly Pumper was in this parade,a sign in the hosebed read " Newest Truck in the Parade". This fire company is local to me They would tell you how they went up to the Hamerly Factory at night and took there pumper.

I was told the story of the Darby Twp rig (I ran with the sister department) and it was as Bruce stated. In addition I was told that the doors of Hamerly were locked all ready and thru political contacts, the local politicians had got the OK to send members of the Department and a State police officer to go to the factory and recover the rig

Anyone have any idea who sold Hammerly in the mid-west? We had a few in the Kansas City Regional Area, IE Topeka, Lee's Summit. Thanks in advance.
