In case anyone hadn't seen it, check this former CO rig that's now serving in NC: ex South Metro FD.

Westcott FPd El Paso, County, Co 2007 spartan/Rosenbauer -Central States 1250/500/20 Eng-1 or 511 #-13976
With a Chief from MD, this rig is the only one in Colorado to have a Powercall Siren. Not long after they placed it in service they ran an auto extrication with the City of Colorado Springs FD. They were running the Powercall on the way in (which none of the CSFD guys had ever heard) apparently the operation came to a hault as all the FF's stared in amusement. The story I heard was that the Battalion Chief from CSFD asked the Westcott guys why they had a "Ghost Busters Siren."
A very rare sight in Denver, one of two reserve rigs that are painted red. This is the former Glendale Engine 112 running as Engine 6 downtown this week.
Engine 5 staged on the plug at smoke call
Engine 11 rolling out on a medical
Engine 22

Why are these rigs painted a different color than the rest of the DFD fleet, is this a pilot program ? Thanks ...........
They were originally red from their day in the Glendale Fire Department, prior to the DFD taking them over. Since they're reserves the DFD decided not to paint them white to save money. There's probably never a chance that the DFD would ever go away from their traditional white. |
