Engine 6’s 2005 Seagrave on the plug at 6[sup]th[/sup] and H St. NE, April, 2011; Shop serial S-156 has been on New Jersey Ave. NW since 2005, making E-06 the oldest continuous-original-owner pumper in DC.

While at the Shop yesterday, I was able to confirm some unit reassignments.

Engine Co. 16's Seagrave to Engine Co. 14

Engine Co. 21's Seagrave to Engine Co. 28

Engine Co. 11's Seagrave to Engine Co. 9

Two of these have already been renumbered, Engine 21's old piece has not been done yet due to it being placed in service as Engine Co. 3. This is because their new Pierce Wagon still being OOS.

They are also PDA'ing or Deadlining a lot of pieces, unable to obtain all the numbers, but a lot...

Shop serial S-383 is a 1993 Simon-Duplex/ LTI that first saw service as Truck 13. It was refurbished by American LaFrance in 2000 and transferred to Truck Co. 8, where it stayed until entering reserve service in July, 2010. Image is 3200 block of M St. NW, July, 2011.

I think your wrong on that. I belive that E-19's Seagrave was the oldest having been placed in service in 2000 and just now replaced.

"DCDF"....A good example of the attention to detail of the Chief and Captains assigned to the Safety Office of the DCFD. The DCFD has spec'd Globe Turnouts for generations, Cairns (now MSA) helmets since 1980,btw. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/3_12_21.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='3_12_21' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/stirpot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Stirpot' />

mjpoetker,

Thanks for the reassignment info. That is a completely different run down than I had heard, its nice to get the confirmation though. Any idea when 14, and 28 will get their units? When I was down the other day 28 was still in their current rig, and 14's wagon was at the shop, where it has been for quite a while.

I would agree with this, it went out of service Wed evening(10-26-11) and the new one placed in service.

Here is one of the deadline units I photographed at the shop. There were numerous E\-One Wagons there, that were missing items on them, so I figured they will be deadlined as well. This rig started as a 1993 Duplex/LTI at Truck 11. In 2003 it was refurbed with an ALF Tractor, and assigned to Truck 12. It was moved to reserve status this year. The guys at 12 told me it was in really rough shape, so it was removed from service, even before they had a new unit.

Engine Co. 16's old wagon has already been renumbered and is completed as Engine Co. 14, they have been in a reserve wagon for a while. I would imagine that they will be in the Seagrave soon. The shop made it sound as early as Monday.

As far as 28 getting 21's old piece, the shop called 28's officer and confirmed what neighborhood they were in to get the right decals made up and told them that they were going to get it re-lettered and PM'd before they got it and they should have it the first week in November. However, with no reserves available and even the Water Supply Companies being either OOS or in Service as a Front Line Company, 21's old Seagrave is being utilized as a reserve, it was operating as Engine Co. 3 on a Fire Ground the other night still lettered as 21. The ironic thing is that 3 Engine is supposed to have a new Pierce but it has been OOS since the first day it went In-Service forcing them in a reserve.

Not many I talk too are happy with the new Pierce wagons.

The quitter pants are outfitted with the Petzl EXO. I think it is the "Cadillac" of escape systems.
