It is still on there. I can just see the bottom of the F, below the roto-ray. I'm sure by the time I got done writing this the shops had it removed though................

Does anyone have a close-up photo of the Officer side body, in particular the area for the hose packs, showing the mounting and securing method? Either a Seargave or Pierce engine is fine.



We are trying to get our Pierce dealer to understand what we want on our new engines and a photo is the easiest way to convey the concept as this particular concept is not common in our area for hose packs.

The Pierce dealer should be able to reference the DCFD specs for the recent Pierce Wagons. That seems to make life easier on them since they can cut and paste from one spec to another. Also there are several SMIB wagons that have DCFD standpipe rack trays such as Hollywood Maryland. Atlantic Emergency Solutions (Pierce Dealer in Northern Virginia) has a spec for Shepherdstown, W.V. that has a DCFD standpipe rack tray.

The Standpipe Racks in the DCFD are used for all sorts of plays from the engine playbook. Many firefighters that are not from the DC area ask about the tray for what they call high-rise packs.



The best description I've heard to explain a DCFD Standpipe Rack is "100 foot of 1 1/2" hose with pipe and reducer for whatever the hell you need to do with it pack".



You can extend a hoseline that ran short, operate off the standpipe in a DC mid-rise(normally 12 stories), drop the rack out the window to avoid running the line up the stairwell, and on and on. The options are only limited to your imagination. The next step is to add pony-sections to all your prec-connected lines so they become loads of hose that can become instantly portable also.



A good DC engine company running the line is a sight to behold.

I understand the new chief is screwing with the shifts and other items but what is he doing with taking company patches and stuff off the apparatus ? Are they taking the dept patch off the door and dcfd off equip and if so what is this brain surgeons reasoning for doing so? Thanks in advance

Yes the company logos are being removed from the apparatus when they go to the shop for repairs. Yes the Chief wants to go from 4 shifts back to 3 shifts.
